The 2022 Nobel Prize was announced during Oct. 3 to 10, including physiology or medicine, physics and chemistry. On Oct. 5, the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was unveiled. Barry Sharpless (professor at the Scripps Research in the USA), Morten Meldal (professor at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark), and Carolyn Bertozzi (professor at Stanford University in the USA), shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Among them, Professors Sharpless and Professor Meldal were awarded for the research of "click chemistry", and Professor Bertozzi for the development of "biorthogonal chemistry". In short, the three scientists have discovered ways to combine molecular structure units that can effectively create new compound reactions.

The Nobel Committee stated in a statement that these reactions are now used globally to explore cells and track biological processes. "Using biorthogonal reactions, researchers have improved the targeting of cancer pharmaceuticals, which are now being tested in clinical trials." The Nobel Committee said at the press conference. It is worth mentioning that this is the second time that Professor Sharpless has received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He had previously been awarded the Nobel Prize in 2001 Chemistry for his work on chirally catalyzed oxidation reactions.

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 On Oct. 4 (Sweden), the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 was awarded jointly to French scientist, Alain Aspect, American scientist, John F. Clauser, and Austrian scientist, Anton Zeilinger for their experiments with "entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science" announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (RSAS).

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2022 At 5:31 pm on Oct. 3 (Beijing), the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was announced. Swedish scientist Svante Pääbo, aged 67, was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. "By revealing genetic differences that distinguish all living humans from extinct hominins, his discoveries provide the basis for exploring what makes us uniquely human", the Nobel Prize Committee wrote in the awarding speech.

Pääbo, director at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, pioneered the method of extracting, sequencing, and analyzing ancient DNA from archaic specimens at the beginning of human history. His greatest achievement is sequencing the Neanderthal genome, our closest known relatives, discovering the gene transfer that exists between extinct humans and Homo sapiens.

The Nobel Prize Committee said, Pääbo "accomplished something seemingly impossible" and made outstanding contributions to human evolutionary research.
